Kelli Oates’ life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ – a type of cancer in the milk ducts of the breast) at the same age her mother tragically lost her battle to breast cancer.

Determined to fight this disease, Kelli was also inspired to fundraise for Australian Breast Cancer Research (ABCR) to support researchers fighting for a cure.

“I want to help with the research to find a cure. Research is the key and I don’t want anyone suffering from any form of cancer ever,” said Kelli.

Kelli came up with her ‘Cuppa campaign’ as she had a lot of family and friends sending their well wishes and asking to see her. Not feeling well enough to do that, Kelli asked for people to donate $5 (the cost of a coffee or tea) as though they were buying her a cuppa.

Through this, Kelli raised an amazing $2,000 towards ABCR!
