Fighting for the everyday

For Australians fighting breast cancer like Robyn and Leah, the ‘everyday’ is even more precious.
Every day we experience simple moments—a dinner with family, a child’s laughter, or a peaceful morning walk. For families facing breast cancer, these simple moments take on extraordinary importance.
For Australians like Robyn and Leah the ‘everyday’ is even more special.
At 61, Robyn was diagnosed with the most aggressive type of breast cancer—triple negative. The size of Robyn’s tumour surprised doctors, so she immediately began chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy.
“The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life was tell my mother, who’d lost her mother to breast cancer when she was pregnant with me,” says Robyn.
Although facing a tough battle, Robyn now enjoys a vibrant life with her husband, daughter, grandkids, and friends
With a family history of breast cancer, Leah knew the importance of early detection. At 42, she was diagnosed with stage 3 hormone-receptive breast cancer, which was spreading rapidly.
“It hadn’t spread to my lymph nodes yet, but if I had delayed my scan it would’ve been a completely different diagnosis,” says Leah.
After a double mastectomy, Leah is cancer-free, cherishing everyday moments with her family. “I have a six-year-old daughter who is at very high risk, so we need to invest in research so the outlook is even brighter for her in the future.”
