National Rally Supports Breast Cancer Research

Held every two years the Packard National Rally brings together Packard motor car enthusiasts from around Australia all in the name of raising money for an important cause.

This year over 100 people flocked to the rally held in Victor Harbor, South Australia where Australian Breast Cancer Research (ABCR) were thrilled to be the charity of choice.

Raising an amazing $1,733 from the event, 100 per cent of these funds have been directed to vital breast cancer research focused on prevention and treatment of the devastating disease.

We caught up with Treasurer of Packard, the committee who organised the event, John Lucas who shared their very special reason for choosing ABCR as their charity of choice.

“For this event we choose a charity where we would like to the funds raised to go. This year we chose ABCR as one of our dear member’s wife died of breast cancer. The money that we donated was given in memory of her,” John said.

“We chose ABCR over other breast cancer charities as we were very impressed that 100 per cent of the donations people made to us are directly funding breast cancer research.”

Auctioning off old Packard car parts and books on Packards, the event also saw a big showing of 45 Packard Cars where attendees were encouraged to give a gold coin donation to vote for their favourite vehicle.

For John and the rest of the committee, they are proud to be supporting the researchers that are working towards a future without breast cancer and the devastating effects of disease.

“We’re all very proud to support ABCR and the researchers. One day they’ll find a cure, I hope it’s in my time.”
