Melbourne-based comedian Kate Hanley Corley is bringing her musical comedy show Nervous Breakdance to Adelaide Fringe, where she will entertain audiences while raising money for a cause close to her heart.
Kate is donating 100% of her ticket sales (minus the Fringe fee) to Australian Breast Cancer Research (ABCR) in honour of her late sister-in-law, who tragically lost her life to breast cancer.
Having watched her sister-in-law battle an aggressive form of inflammatory breast cancer in her late 20s and tragically losing her life in her 30s, Kate has seen firsthand the heartbreaking impact of the disease.
She has also supported three close friends, who are all mothers, through their own breast cancer battles, as well as her husband’s mother and grandmother.
“Breast cancer is so prevalent in society, and you can see how it has touched my life,” Kate said.
“I am in awe of researchers who spend all day trying to put pieces of the puzzle together and how to best treat it.
“They’re so creative and collaborative – I can’t think of a more noble way to use your brain than to save lives.”
Kate has always looked at the funny side of life’s darker moments, and people will get a glimpse of this in her Fringe show.
Nervous Breakdance is a mixture of stand up and song about the isolation of motherhood, the loss of identity, difficult toddlers and psychotic teens, post-natal depression, sex, ageing, marriage and menopause.
Kate’s shows marry brilliant and incisive comedy with fantastic songs to create a magical atmosphere.
Kate will be performing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Use the code ‘BCResearch’ to book your tickets. Don’t miss out on a night of laughter for a good cause!
