South Australian catholic school Blackfriars Priory turned pink in May to shine a light on breast cancer.
Throughout the month, students swapped their school ties for pink ties and raised $2,022 for their Wear it PINK! fundraiser.
The smaller kids at Blackfriars early learning centre were encouraged to wear pink wristbands. Head prefect Michael Ward said the fundraiser was a great way of highlighting awareness.
“Breast cancer impacts countless lives, touching many in our own community, either directly or through loved ones,” Michael said.
“By partnering with ABCR, we aim to contribute to vital research that explores new prevention strategies, innovative treatment plans and groundbreaking detection methods.
“This collaboration not only allows us to extend our support to those affected, but also educates us about the importance of research and community involvement in tackling significant health challenges.
“Together, we stand in solidarity, hopeful that our efforts will help make a difference in the lives of those impacted by breast cancer.”
Assistant Principal Angela Collins said it was a privilege to shine a light on breast cancer.
“May we aim to courageously reflect the selfless actions and compassionate love of mothers as we try and make a positive difference in the lives of women – and families – facing the challenge of breast cancer,” Angela said.
